Giving Thanks

I would like to thank everyone who reads this blog and supports living life "The Empowered Way".
I have had an EXPLOSION of views in the last 2 months!

Almost everything I do in life, I do with intention. I try never to just go along with something because "That's the way things have always been done.", "Everyone else does it." or "It's just easier this way".

I am so thankful for having this blog because I believe in the POWER of written word.

The written word can inspire and enlighten its readers, but it also gives something back to its author. Being conscious of different ways that I have come to feel empowered has... empowered ME

Just writing all the thoughts that go on in my head and the things I study really helps me to keep a clean focus.

Receiving messages and comments really helps me know that my passion in life is desired and helpful to others.

Seeing people change their lives all because of something I suggested is an indescribable feeling.

Thank you everyone. Thank you for being awesome. Thank you for keeping an open mind. Thank you for caring about what you put into your bodies. Thank you for trying to be a more conscious consumer. Thank you for supporting me and making me feel loved and appreciated.

In a small attempt to say how grateful I am- I'm doing a GIVE-AWAY of my two most favorite ESSENTIAL products!

Organic Extra Virgin Cold Pressed Coconut Oil  & Dr Bronner's Organic Castille Soap

Both products have changed my life in terms of how I think about cooking and what I put on my body.

Coconut oil is THE ONLY cooking that should be used for high heat cooking! Olive oil is not healthy if heated. You can use room temperature coconut oil in place of Crisco (shudder) in any baking situation! Also, coconut oil is a good moisturizer for skin and hair, diaper rash cream, good for putting on cuts and scrapes, and even a natural SPF!

Dr. Bronner's Soap is all organic, not tested on animals, vegan and fair trade! All of these qualities have become super important to me and my husband. Organic and natural is very important, as our skin is our biggest organ! Whatever we put on it gets into our bloodstream- not good news for all those toxic lotions, perfumes and body washes out there. Also, we like to ensure that the way we live harms other beings in the least ways possible. Adding those two great reasons with the fact that Dr Bronner's can be used as body soap, shampoo, shaving cream, multi-purpose cleaner, dog wash, car wash, toothpaste, to clean laundry, to clean wool, to clean silk... the bottle says there are 18 uses. You can find even more online!

Now:

Want to know what you need to do to have one of these shipped straight to your door!?

Please feel free to share with us. Others want to be inspired by you! It doesn't matter if I know you or not!
I will choose the winners (via some random name generator online) on Thursday, December 7th and I will notify you via contact information provided!

  3. Feeling empowered is one of the greatest feelings! Something new empowers me every day! Overall, what empowers me the most is being able to redefine so many things in my life. For example, I have redefined what I think of as success. For a while, I always considered success to be something great in the distant future - that big house with the white picket fence, lots of money, etc. etc. But recently, I have realized that, to me, success is being married to my loving husband, being surrounded by wonderful friends, having amazing and healthy food, being healthy, feeling free, being able to learn new things every day....these things are what I define as success, and I have them now. Being able to say that I am successful every day is so empowering! As always, thanks for continuing to inspire and empower us all with your amazing blog. Love it!

  4. Catching up on your blog now and this giveaway is SO exciting. I would LOVE to win! I've heard great things about Dr. Bronner's soap and have been wanting to try it for a while now. And coconut oil! I've heard of using it for hair, but not for cooking, as embarrassing as that is! I would LOVE to try it! Well, for Kyle to try it. He's the cook in our house :)

Your blog has empowered me! I so, so badly want to cut out all meat and eventually all animal products from my diet. My love of animals makes having any part of an meat-reliant diet really, really hard for me to justify and feel okay with. I get low blood sugar REALLY easily and am possibly gluten intolerant, so the prospect of cutting out another food group is difficult for me, but your blog has empowered me to want to seriously try!

    1. Natasha! Life is such a wonderful journey. It's wonderful that you make the connection of the love of animals and not eating them. Most people only view cats and dogs as "animals" in that respect. <3

Try going meat-free for a week and see how you FEEL. Getting rid of the animal fats may help with your low blood sugar believe it or not. Be sure to get ENOUGH calories when you get rid of the meat. You will have to monitor it to ensure you are full of energy (calories= energy). You can do it and I can help you if you need anything. :)

  5. Great replies guys! I especially love what you said, Meghan, about changing your view of what success means. I don't know if it has to do with getting older, or living out of your element, but it has definitely happened to me as well.
I'm not trying to win anything, since shipping it to me, would effectively involve you turning to your right and handing it to me!, but I do want to share a quote that everyone has heard, I'm sure, but really empowers me:
"Be the change you wish to see."
It's really as simple as that, and this blog and your life prove it Meg.

  6. Hi Meg! I like checking in on your blog. :) If I understand the definition of "empowering" correctly, one of the most empowering forces in my life is my husband. He helps me be a better person every day- calmer, kinder, and more aware of myself and the world.

P.S. Your food always looks delicious! D and I will probably come to Busan for a little exploring in Jan. or Feb, I'll send you a FB message so we can get together and do some cooking!

  7. Since moving to Korea my life has changed in so many ways. Back in the States I had fallen into the viscous cycle of eating fast food on a daily basis. It took its ugly toll on my body and I felt drained physically, mentally, and even emotionally. When I arrived here and went for the medical check required for employment the nurses gasped at how high my blood pressure was which was a bit humiliating. Over the past 4 months I am happy to say that I have broken the habit and am seeking to make wise choices with what I put in my body. I have lost over 20 pounds and feel better than I have felt in years! This is what has empowered me in so many ways! My entire outlook on life has changed and my body, mind, and soul have been empowered by these changes. Thanks for your blog Meg! It has been an encouragement.

    1. Austin- I have totally been there! Living in Korea has totally changed my life... like 180 degrees. Moving here and getting away from all that fast food and CHEESE and SALT really helped set us on a better path. I will always look fondly upon Korea, because I found my life's path here. I found a path to healing and to health.

I am so proud of you! You must feel so great! When you notice how much power you actually have over your body and health by what you eat, you can never be the same again. Things keep getting better and better.

I have just ordered trays to make my own soap from coconut oil. Fingers crossed it turns out!! Keep up all your amazing work and thank you for all you do spreading the gift of holistic health. 9. I feel empowered when I see my actions creating positive changes. I try to live a life of compassion and thoughtfulness. I especially like it when I share a scrumptious vegan dish with others to demonstrate that cooking with animal products is possible and tastes good, or when I tell people about the cruelty and poison in their beauty products so that they don't buy them anymore but instead choose environmental and animal friendly products. These actions are empowering because I'm creating change in the world for the better - however small. And meeting other like minded folk is also very rewarding. Keep up the great work, I'm loving the journey.

    1. Oh Frankie- you are so right. Empowering others really helps oneself feel empowered. Sometimes we see all the problems in the world and it can be overwhelming. But getting the word out and planting the seeds of knowledge in even 5 people can change a community. They will go on and change 5 people and so on, and so on, and so on! Life can be wonderful in that way :)

  10. I absolutely love reading The Empowered Way...thanks for sharing, caring and keeping us all in a positive state. Sometimes when I am feeling a bit under the weather, I look for your posts to bring me back to a better state of mind. Here are some of my favorite positive sayings to share: "Your Thoughts Create your Life", "Everything I Touch is a Success", "I Am Deeply Fulfilled by All I Do", "I Turn Every Experience Into An Opportunity", It's Never Too Late To Create a New Body".

    1. I LOVE the quote that you posted "I turn every experience into an opportunity". It really speaks to me. I have seen a big change in my life once I started viewing things like that. It's good to see that way of thinking written out. I will put it on my wall!

  11. I have literally just discovered your blog, and I am so inspired by you! Thank you! It's probably too late to enter the giveaway, but the coconut oil is too tempting.(; Although born native Korean, I spent most of my life abroad; when I moved back to Korea this fall, it was so disorienting. I felt so out of place, and considered myself pathetic for not being able to fit into my own culture; I kept losing weight, couldn't sleep at night, felt depressed most of the time, and just overall was in a very bad place. But it got better- I started to gain weight again, and I can really feel my body getting back its balance and restoring itself, and I feel very empowered by that. Although I'm still struggling with binge eating, I have definitely come to respect and love myself more through the hardships(:
